There are many theories of the name of the band, but I'll show them are the most important and I think the surprise. The first and most sorprndente theory is that they are acronyms K.I.S.S. ss are somewhat Nazi or satan satan Knights in service or Knights in Satan's service

Knights in Satan Service or knights in the service of Satan

That means exactly and KIDS as they say.

The second theory takes us a little more about the history of the band, called Kiss because in 1973, with the newly formed group, Peter Criss told the rest of the group who had been in a band called Lips (Lip), and then Paul Stanley came up suddenly the name and said something like: What do you think of the name Kiss (Kiss)? Well, everyone agreed. Kiss is no acronym, is only "Kiss".

Here are some facts and trivia:

1. Before called Kiss, the quartet used to be called Wicked Lester. Under that name they recorded an album full of demos for Epic Records (1971-1972) that was never published. Some of those songs will eventually Kiss discs. Drummer Peter Criss joined the group in April 1972 and Ace Frehley followed in January 1973. Two weeks later they made their debut in Kiss.

2. Before deciding on Kiss, also considered the names of Albatross, Rainbow (Ritchie Blackmore before Deep Purple post after had a band with the same name) and Crimson Harpoon.

6. His ardent fans are known as members of the 'KISS Army' (Kiss Army) and began in Indiana when a local station in Indiana refused to play songs of Kiss in the early seventies. Fans marched and protested outside the radio station and they called the KISS Army.

7. The original edition of the debut album of KISS did not include the song "Kissin 'Time". The album was re-released in July 1971 and included the cover "Kissin 'Time", originally a hit for Bobby Rydell.

8. For the album KISS, the band wanted the picture was similar to the album 'Meet The Beatles'. Oh, and Warner Bros. Records initially threatened to terminate the contract with the band if there were removing makeup.

9. To achieve the silver-colored "Spaceman" in her hair for the cover art of Kiss, Ace Frehley paint used regularly thinking that could remove it with a simple shower. Ace was wrong.

10. Ace began using makeup for your eyes blue in the late seventies, it had developed allergies against the original silver-colored makeup.

11. "Dimebag" Darrell (Pantera / Damageplan) was buried in a sarcophagus of KISS, or known as the 'Kiss Kasket', as he had requested in his will. "There was not enough inventory so I sent made it to the family of 'Dimebag' Darrell. He so wanted, because KISS was one of his favorite bands, tell that was the first records he heard, "said Gene Simmons. For those who prefer cremation urns there are also KISS.

12. In the early seventies, Peter Criss flew to England to audition for the band Elton John. He could not work.

13. Ace Frehley was known for his taste for liquor, but his classic "Cold Gin" was not inspired precisely gin (gin). "He did not drink gin, really not much liquor," as in his book "No Regrets". "It was one more type of beer and not even a connoisseur of beer. You could give me any can that was in the fridge and that was enough to make me happy. But I wanted to write a song about a drink and 'Cold Gin' sounded like the perfect title. "

14. A KISS was offered the part of Future Villain Band in the film Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978). The band declined the invitation because they feared that their image was affected. Eventually I got the role Aerosmith.

17. When Gene Simmons throws fire from his mouth is a sensation. Obviously, it's a trick but the truth Simmons is one of the best in the world. In fact you can get to throw flames 15 feet (4.5 meters) away. Not as much as the world record for Antonio Restivo (8 meters), but it is still impressive.

18. Ace Frehley sings horizontally. "Every time I have recorded my voice I should have slept if he stood to sing could not reach some notes."

New York rock music quartet formed in 1972 by Americans Peter Criss (Peter Crisscoula, 1947), Gene Simmons (Gene Klein, 1949), Ace Frehley (Paul Frehley, 1951) and Paul Stanley (Paul Eisen, 1951). Undoubtedly one of hard rock bands most respected in the history of this genre throughout his long career got seventeen gold albums and idolatry of a legion of admirers; its immense popularity led them to even be protagonists of a comic book.

Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley contacted drummer Peter Criss and Ace Frehley with guitar through an ad in the newspaper in the early seventies. Under the influence of the glam-rock avalanche, they adopted a staging with large platforms shoes, clothing, glam and heavy makeup, which also allowed them to remain anonymous.

They released their first album in 1974 (Kiss), and by 1975 had already introduced unsingle in the top fifteen of the charts. Rock 'n' roll all night came in at number twelve, as the LP recorded live, Alive !, which reached ninth place in the US charts, and formed his first great successes at national level.

In 1976 his live presentation took place in the UK, and Destroyer, a classic album in his discography, was introduced rapidly in this country lists. That same year, Frehley suffered an electric shock during a concert in California, though fortunately not seriously injured.

A year later, in 1977, he was released comics based on the four characters peculiar makeup and Love Gun album, which took fourth place in the American charts. In 1978, peak into the life of the group, the four components released solo albums, and although they performed well, did not match the sales of the quartet.

I was made for lovin'you was the issue that gave them internationally definitively: it was placed in the top fifty British broadcasters sounded in half the world. The associated LP, Dynasty, published in 1979, and Unmasked (1980) marked his most famous era, but after the latter, Peter Criss left the band to be replaced by Eric Carr. In 1983, Vinnie Vincent replaced Frehley, who left the group to form his own band and get their greatest success in the UK.

In 1983, after appearing in an interview stripped of his trademark makeup, edited Lick It Up, an album that marked a milestone in the group's history: it was the first in which they appeared on the cover with their faces uncovered, and the first thing he saw the light on Vertigo Records, after leaving the hallmark of all his previous recording career, Casablanca Records. The album revitalized the career of the group and led them to achieve the best sales results in the UK; a year later, Mark St. John was replacing Vincent, who left the band.

Simmons and Stanley as survivors, they released their sixteenth LP, Asylum, in 1985, which was placed in the top twenty on both sides of the Atlantic. Crazy Nights was the biggest hit of Kiss in the UK: both the single and the album of the same title reached fourth place in the British charts. The year was 1987; from here its sales began to decline as the decade ended, although its not completely ceased recording activity; clear example esRevenge, published in 1992 or Alive III, live album released in 1993.

Recently the original formation of Kiss (Simmons, Stanley, Criss and Frehley) released an album (Kiss Unplugged) recorded in studio, but with the public, in which the classic themes of the band recorded with acoustic sound appear. After this experience, the four members spent the years 1996 and 1997 to a gigantic world tour in which they performed with the glam image that characterized them once (including makeup) and was a resounding success in the already long career of the band.

Members of the band

Peter Criss

Excellent drummer and charismatic presence, his singing voice was deep and refined which gave a great vocal range for his interpretations, his greatest contribution to the band was the ballad "Beth" that it played on stage and the immortal costume "the Catman" that would be used during his time in battery KISS from 1973 to 1980, and their reunion tour from 1996 to 2003. Guitarist leader, owner of a musical sense above the technical parameters of the guitar, his great contribution to the band were the songs "Coldgin" and "Shock me" in addition to his electrifying solos during each show, without forgetting his suit of "the Spaceman" Ace remained in the band in step 1973 to 1982 and on tour 1996-1998 meeting.

Vinnie Vincent.

lead guitarist Ace Frehley who replaced after leaving early 80s, remaining the period 1982-1984 use the guise of The Ankh Warrior, electrifying solos competed with Ace, but in the end the style was different. I bring to the band some good songs like "I loveitloud" and "Lickit up".

Eric Carr.

spectacular drummer of KISS from 1980 until his death in 1991, his style was forceful and precise differed from Peter Criss, whom he replaced only by the technique on drums, because like Criss, also sang, to choirs, and played battery excellently, his disguise was "the Fox".

Mark St.John.

A guitarist with great technique, but because of a strange disease that prevented him from fingers touching, apparently by nerves, did not remain beyond 1984.

Bruce Kulick.

A lead guitarist who replaced Vinnie Vincent in 1984 and remained in the ranks of the band until 1996, his technique is fine and direct contrasts with Frehley and Vincent for their discreet stage presence.
